Ligue Round Marseille Draw with Lille, Stalemate in European Qualification Race

Marseille and Lille drew 1-1 in their Ligue 1 match on Saturday night, leaving the two sides level on points after eight rounds of fixtures.

The draw means that both teams have now secured a place in the round of 16 of the Europa League, but it has also left them without a win in their last four matches in all competitions.

Despite the draw, Marseille manager Lucien Favre was pleased with his side's performance against Lille, saying: "We played well and we deserved to win. But we made some mistakes in the second half and conceded a goal, which is always difficult."

Meanwhile, Lille boss Christophe Galtier admitted that his team had let themselves down in the final minutes of the game, saying: "I'm disappointed because we lost our composure and conceded a late goal. We didn't play well in the second half and we didn't deserve to win the game."

Both teams will now turn their attention to the remaining fixtures in their respective leagues, with Marseille facing Rennes next weekend while Lille take on Montpellier. However, they will need to focus on improving their performances if they hope to secure a place in Europe's top club competition this season.
